>all i asked was what was so special about his drums (albeit >facetiously) and you get your panties in a bunch
I was bugging ont he first reply. If you hadn't mentioned felatio, I would't have taken it there.
>i have an excellent system at home, so sound comes through >with great clarity in my system and i'm tellin' you stay >real drums don't bump better than psa's drums
Louder doesn't = better. I'll give you that. The "P.S.A." drums are a bit louder, and they hit, but you have to remember the elements in said beats. Your looking for a balance. "P.S.A." is basically a loop, so Blaze had to make it stand out. The original loop off the original song, the drums are somewhat muffled, especially for the ROCafella heads.
The Beatminerz worked with different portions of the song. The included the organ, the oboe (??), guitars, etc.... the drums didn't need to crack like that. There were so many other elements in that beat to take into consideration. It was almost Bomb Squad-ish, while "P.S.A." was basically a juiced-up break.
>now, do you care to regain your civilization and act like a >human bein' and talk with some sense and explain what is so >phenomenal about the drums from your point of view?
Well, if your talking about "Stay Real", it's a phenomenal song. "P.S.A." is the same drum pattern if I'm not mistaken, just enhanced in levels. Like I said, the original song they got the sample from has somewhat muffled drums, but since Beatminerz included more elements, and made a ballsier beat, the drums are fine where they're at.
As far as the Beatminerz drums in general, the way they eq their drums is ridiculous. How do they do it? I don't know. I have a few hunches, but when it's all said and done, the things they did with drums on "Brace 4 Impak", the Boot Camp album, and Black Moon's album were nothing short of spectacular. "Daddy Wanna" on the Bootcamp album chopped the "N.T." drums (from break off a Kool & The Gang live album), and made them cleaner than a baby wipe, and they still hit...hard.
If you listen to "Noway" off the Black Moon album, not just the drums, but everything is eq'd ridiculous. Anyone with a halfway decent ear has to marvel at how the Minerz keep everything hip-hop gritty, but still level it to where it'll crack in the car, and hum out of your speakers.
They used to be considered under producers like Primo, and Pete Rock, with an excellent ear for samples, but they officially carved their own niche. The songs they did for Krumbsnatcha, Funkdoobiest, Shadez of Brooklyn, Afu-Ra, etc... they just show'n proove everytime out. Sure, Just Blaze spruced up some drums for a song, but he doesn't have 1/8 of the drum game the Minerz got.
