1) Keep this link handy for #5 below: http://youtube.com/get_video.php?l=165&video_id=
2) Go to the screen where you watch a video on youtube.com
3) Scroll down to where it says "Video URL (Permalink)"
4) Copy what's AFTER "http://www.youtube.com/?v="
5) Put the address from #1 and #4 together in order. It will look something like this: http://youtube.com/get_video.php?l=165&video_id=1rRl2qN-8j0
6) Download the file. It will be called "Get Video"
7) Add the .flv file extension to the end of that file name (get video.flv)
8) Download CinemaForge and then convert the file!

(Make sure you convert it to .avi because I can't fast forward when I make it a .wmv)

Heres an easier way to skip #s 3-5:

1. You need mozilla, if you don't have it, google it and get it, best internet thingy there is.
2. Download the Greasemonkey extension for mozilla firefox, go here to do so http://greasemonkey.mozdev.org/
3. http://www.joshkinberg.com/blog/files/youtube_to_me.user.js <<<<click on this link to enable use for youtube.
4. http://www.joshkinberg.com/blog/files/google_video_getter.user.js <<<<<click on this link to enable use for google video.
5. Once you did all of that at the top of either the youtube video site or the google video site is a link that says download, click it and then do steps 6-whatever.

I'm tired, so I dunno if what I just said made any sense. Tell me if it works for you.

Now you can just follow those directions, and a link on the actual video site will appear so you can just click that and download the video right away. Easier than finding a bunch of hidden links and going to different sites to download them. IMO.

But, how do you get these files into your video IPOD (avi files, itunes)? I have a converter that converts wmv to my ipod, could I use this same program for the youtube files? and how?
