Ah, the time must be drawing nigh, as we've just seen our first report of that heavily-guarded Wii demo kiosk being fully assembled and ready for play. As expected, Wal-Mart didn't get first dibs on this bad boy, but a South Florida GameStop is already giving eager Wii users a go at Excite Truck. The stipulation? You've reportedly got to hand over your keys and / or driver's license to even sniff the untethered (albeit proudly labeled) Wiimote, and your collateral is promptly returned once you prove you aren't walking out with any GameStop property. Initial hands-on reports suggested that driving vehicles with the newfangled controller took about three rounds to master, but it wasn't too long before gold medals were flying off the shelf and extra rides were being unlocked. I thought the controls worked perfectly, though all I played was excitetruck. It was pretty damn fun though using the wiimote to steer, and navigating the muenus on the wii with the controller worked really well.

My willpower will be greatly tested.

The answer? Truly fantastic. It's not a reinvention of the genre like Ocarina was -- but it's much better, because it takes all its predecessors' raw ideas, perfects them, and creates an experience that's at once new and familiar. It's rare to find a launch game that truly justifies the purchase of a new console, but this is precisely that. If Wii Sports is a game for everyone, Twilight Princess is for everyone who loves games.

I was about to switch to Red Steel or Madden but after playing Excitetruck, i'm going to keep it.

The control was great. The Wiimote was a lot smaller than I thought it would be though.

i'm fucking exausted so i may not play again until i take a nap, but zelda is zelda and wii sports is suprisingly dope.

But in retrospect, I really didn't need to. The Times Square Toys R Us had about 8000 consoles, and just as many copies of The Legend of Zelda.

I've only gotten into Wii Sports thus far, and I like it much more than I thought I would. I got a nice little workout going.

man, we kept getting heckled by folks driving by that said shit like "XBOX360 IS BETTER, YOU FAGGOT ASS LOSERS!!!!!!" one guy even was running around shaking people's tents (some guy put up a tent for like 3 hours), dragged a guy in a sleeping bag, slapped a dude in the face, and then BOOKED it bc the guy that he slapped started chasing after him. the slapper's friends were driving slowly across the street waiting for him and almost ran into slapper as slapee chased him down the block.

by 7 in the morning, time began to slow to a crawl and the fanboyism around me began to destroy me. i wanted to slap every single motherfucker around me. they were all worried there wouldnt be enough controllers or some gay shit. people would walk out with no controller and they'd start to whine, "they don't want ACCESSORIES?!"

This is how it went for me. I traded every stitch of my gaming stuff in to have loot to put on a Wii pre-order at Gamecrazy. I had been calling asking when they were going to start pre-orders and they kept saying not yet. Well I call the day after I traded all my stuff in and they tell me they already opened and closed pre-orders and I was not getting one but would be number 13 after pre-orders were filled meaning I would not see a Wii until prolly next year. I resigned myself to my fate only after cussing out the bitch ass manager for playing me like that. Now last night my wife's aunt calls and ask if I want to camp out with her husband to try and get one. I tell her I can't cause my wife had to work last night and it was me and my junior, she's like wrap him up and bring him along but I had to decline that offer cause my wife would have taken my head clean off for that move. Well they call this morning and I ask how did it go and where are they now, they say coming up, I then understand they are at our apartment so I buzz them up thinking I at least get to play with there Will, well as I hand the Wiimote back to her uncle and thank him for coming through, he hands it back and says Merry Christmas, I couldn't play mine thinking you didn't have one so I copped this one from Sam's Club this morning. I damn near cried. So I have my Wii and a grip of Gamecrazy credit. I asked him what game he wants, anything, it's on me. He went with Rainbow Six for the 360 which comes out Tuesday or Wednesday. I went and copped it, of course Zelda, and 2000 Wii points. They did not have a classic controller so I still need to find one, but man am I happy.

but i didnt bother waking up early for this shit, so its partly my fault

So the Target around me opens at 8, so I woke up at 6:30 and booked down there....which was rough, considering I went to bed at 4:30 last night. Oops. So I get there around 10 'till 7, there's already a pretty big line. I get in line, and about 10 minutes later the manager comes out and hands everyone a card with all the games and accessories on it, as well as a little slip that says what number you are in line. I got 53, they got in 69, so I was set. The card was so you could mark what stuff you wanted, and they'd just grab it for you and you'd be set. We were all promised a console, so we just hung around 'till 8 when they started letting people in in groups of 20. I get up there, give them my card, and I'm outta there. Overall, extremely well organized and easy, and I only had to wake up 90 minutes early to snag one. The games are dope, Zelda is great so far, and I'm really really liking Wii Sports...funny, didn't know what I'd think of that one. Overall, man, I'm fucking loving this thing.

I got a Wii late last night from EB (preordered). Im beginning to get to some real holy shit moments in Zelda. Wii Sports is really fun. It's a really beautifully conceived console. The potential for a REALLY incredible FPS is readily apparent.
