Any major differences between this and the gamecube version? I feel a bit odd being 26 and going all out at getting the Wii just for one game, but less having to do all those motions to play the game.

I saw signs for pre-ordering in a shop just 2 days ago. Oh wait, I'm in UK, things are different here. Its not out till 10th December or something. Think there's still pre-orders available.
I don't see why they couldn't do this. Though really why would you buy a wii for any reason other than the controller? If you got one you best be using the wiimote or you've gone wasted your money.

but Nintendo has been steadily pushing towards the idea that Zelda is a true Wii game now...not a gamecube game. Hence the delay for the gamecube version, it being sold online only in certain countries, the almost complete lack of gamecube version impressions, etc.

I mean Zelda is by far their best launch title, and to be honest looks the best RPG in years. So if they wanna shift Wii's and wanna create a buzz they don't want everyone thinking its a Gamecube game. They promised it to Gamecube owners so they can't backtrack, but they want the Gamecube release as low profile as possible.
