"Wii to launch with 27 games"

Nintendo's new console will boast an impressive line-up including Call of Duty 3, Zelda and Wii Sports.

Cutting out region codes could open up the Wii to imported loveliness from the Far East...

Nintendo's innovative Wii console will boast an impressive launch line-up of 27 titles, according to our sister site CVG.com.

As expected, you'll be able to buy the likes of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, shooter Metroid Prime: Corruption and sword-waving Japanese gangster game Red Steel (all Wii exclusives) from day one, plus this lot:

Elebits
Call of Duty 3
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam
Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII
Far Cry
GT Pro Series
Open Season
Rayman Raving Rabbids
Excite Truck
Wii Sports
Need for Speed: Carbon
Madden NFL 07
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Cars
Spongebob Squarepants: Creature from the Krusty Krab
Blitz: The League
Dragonball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2
Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz
Trauma Centre: Second Opinion
Metal Slug Anthology

There's a bit of something for everyone there, we reckon. Of course, Nintendo has yet to confirm the actual date that it'll be releasing Wii all over the expectant world, but late October/early November is our guess.

*End swipe*

Most of that list is likely just trash, but I didn't realize that Red Steel was a launch game. Zelda, Metroid and Red Steel shall all be copped as soon as the Wii is mine

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
-I've been waiting for this shit all my life (c) Juggernaut

Metroid Prime: Corruption
-These are always good.

Metal Slug Anthology
-Metal Slug is one of my favorite games.

---
I'll wait for reviews on these:
Rayman Raving Rabbids
-From the guy that did Beyond Good and Evil, which was pretty good

Madden NFL 07
-The 1up folks said it was fun, and it'll be the best looking version I'll be able to get since I probably won't be getting a PS3 or another 360 til they work out the kinks.

Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors
-Don't know what kind of game this is, but DQVIII (or whatever the one with Goku on the cover is the shit)

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers
-The first one was surprisingly fun with more than one person. If they do it so you play on your DS it would be cool.
---

When are Mario Galaxy, Sonic and Smash Bros coming? I'm REALLY looking forward to some online Smash Bros.

The RPG stuff is kinda like that, but instead of a sidescroller it's more like a Streets of Rage meets Gauntlet (the new ones) type game.

You can level up, get new characters and learn new moves, but it's still an action oriented game.

The first one was a ton of fun, and I didn't play the second one but it got good reviews. They'll remind you of the old school arcade games like X-Men, Ninja Turtles or The Simpsons.

I really want a PS3, but 2 things stop me from thinking about it: the absurdly high price and Sony's ability to make systems that always seem to fuck up.
The XBox 360 is cool too, but I am only interested in Dead Rising right now.
Grand Theft Auto 4 is supposed to drop for both PS3 and 360, so whatever is cheaper at the time will be bought up.
As for the Wii, I am interested in Red Steel definately, as well as possibly checking Metal Slug Anthology, Zelda, and Metroid.
Of course in the future any new Mario game is on the radar, especially Smash Brothers and Mario Kart.

You should, it's definitely worth it. They just re-printed it, so you should be able to find it at Best Buys and stuff, but it'll probably be gone soon...cop it if you see it.

it's quite good that htere's so much depth in the launch line-up. most of it i'm not interested in but 'GT Pro' and 'Prey' sound good. i'm sure other people like different ones

no 'killer app' though
zelda is a gamecube game...
i don't think Metroid will be up to much
Red Steel could be awful

Wii for $170?
Financial report anticipates lower price point for upcoming system.
by Anoop Gantayat
August 15, 2006 - Nintendo's new Wii console could be yours later this year for less than expected. Tokyo-based Nikko Citigroup has issued a report on Nintendo's rising stock price, and between all the jargon is the financial institution's forecast that the Wii will carry a Japanese price point of 19,800 yen.

Current exchange rates would put an equivalent US price at $170.00. However, console prices rarely convert according to exchange rates. At most, we can probable take this report to indicate an anticipated US price of under $200.

Nikko Citigroup previously forecast a 25,000 yen price for the Wii. The firm arrived at the new, lower price point based on its expectation that Nintendo will be able to procure the Wii's CPU for less than expected.

This report is just another prediction by a financial institution and shouldn't be taken as confirmation of the Wii's price. For now, the official Nintendo word is that the system will be sold for under 25,000 yen in Japan and $250 in America. Final details are expected in September.
