took it home, was only on the multi for 10 minutes, but looks amazing. controls will take some getting used to, especially for all you halo heads out there, but looks great, cant wait to get off work.
my only regret is not pre-ordering it, those came w/ the 3 hour dvd chronicling all of the metal gear games. if anyone gets that and rips it into a dl'able format, you will be my hero and i might honestly mail you a check for $10.

the only difference that i can tell between the 2 is the limited editon one has a bonus disc w/ all the cutscenes in order edited so you can see them all at once (although i think they said they added some new ones in, but havent seen them for myself), and an extended trailer for mgs4 (which looked incredible, but i couldnt tell if any of it was actual gameplay or just konami flexing thier cgi muscles, and who is it? is it solid snake? or the one that would go on to be big boss?). therefore, your really not getting TOO much more by getting the limited edition version,$10 aint the end of the world to me so im pretty much like whatever.
if someone sees that bonus making of dvd pop up on bittorrent, please notify the rest of high tech.

i agree that so far my favorite though is the capture the flag, mad fun! definately different getting used to it as action as opposed to stealth, but its pretty damn fun.

Im playing on hard, then planning on going to the European extreme difficuly(get spotted once and game over, which is how it should be), and its so imperative to be able to see those damn gaurds. I just finished the first sequence(virtuous mission which ends after Boss throws you off the bridge), and its so much relatively less frustrating because when you get caught or spotted its actually because you were sloppy in your planning or just fucked up.
However, for all those playing for the first time, MAKE SURE you get the damn thermal goggles in the virtuous mission(they are in a log on the right side of the area that is circle)

Im so glad I bought it along with that midnight club 3 remix. I traded in some games for them and only spent a lil over 30 bucks for both.
I didn't play mgs 3 until now because i was broke when it first dropped in 04. I heard subsistence was comin out so i waited. Damn near a year later I finally got it and ITS GREAT.
Online play is dope too. It has its learning curve but i got used to the controls. We really need to get a game goin sometime, maybe tonight even. What are your screenames online for MGS btw?
And how the hell do you get the flamethrower online?

It takes me like 2 hours to get through certain tougher areas...plus you they dont give you the motion sensor on hard either. Also, I take the fake death pill and restart any time I am spotted(alert mode), just to get ready for the euro extreme difficulty.
Fucking Ocelot was tougher than I remember too, I remember pwning him on normal, but then on hard, i really had to take my time and wait for him to reload, and only then could i really get at him without dying.

We gotta play again sometime. I can't play tonight cause I got some assignments to work on. Plus my school tracks our bandwith so im limited to how much I can play any game online.

so I finished MGS 3 last night and came to the above conclusion
MGS 3 was very good though; easily the 2nd best and what MGS on the next generation consoles *should've* been in the first place
still, some issues:
- Kojima is great and all but sometimes he can be a total hack. Why did most of the Cobras seem to be carbon copies of every villian in Ninja Scroll? It's like he wasn't even trying...
- Eva/Tatyana was just some dumb whore who added very little to the game besides run around with her top unnecessarily exposed
- the plot kinda dragged at times
- I loved the boss fights with The End and The Boss, but the rest were very underwhelming
- worst actual Metal Gear out of the three
I'm also annoyed by how clunky the gameplay still is, even w/the new camera and actions - this is one aspect where Splinter Cell just kills the MGS series
That wasn't Metal Gear, it was the Shagohod, basically a prototype for what WOULD become Metal Gear. Remember that this takes place 40 years prior to MGS
