"Question About Videos On New iPods, Please Help"

i just got the new video iPod so i'm not too familiar with them yet, but i was just wondering if they can play any video files other than quicktime video files, since i got a bunch of windows media player video files, but i can't manage to import them onto my itunes/ipod yet. if anyone knows if and how to do this, i'd really appreciate it, thanks a lot, peace
