"I am thinking of buying a PS2 for Raw vs. Smackdown 06...worth it?"

I won a gift certificate to target from my company party. I had bought a ps2 a while back, but had to return it cause the shit had a glitch. I got my money back and figured i was not going to buy another one. While I had it, I rented raw vs smackdown...I loved that game. Kinda like when i bought my N64 for Aki wrestling games. Is Raw vs Smackdown 06 THAT good?

Hopefully, they do one more PS2 title to undo the minor problems with this game. However, The Doc doesn't believe that THQ will be able make a SmackDown game with this kind of cast again (best one since HCTP ITDO).

There weren't a lot of non-WWE finishers or moves in this game, and they lost a whole lot of the ones that had been in WWE for a while.

The restrictions on female characters was kind of wack (generally, The Doc is more concerned about the created ones than the standard ones...but judging by some language used in the game, The Doc is wondering if something was changed at the last minute).

Though gameplay wise, this game is better, much better than No Mercy 95% of the time.

Some of the gimmick matches are HILARIOUS (Bar Brawl especially).

The legends are the best legend collection to date, though the primary method of unlocking Jake Roberts is BULLSHIT. Using a PSP? Nope.
(Though there is talk that he becomes unlockable by drafting him in the 2nd year of GM Mode).

The Doc hears that it's hard to find the right lobby online, but at least you can do some different matches than last year (which is what made online lasr year WACK).

The Doc's just mad he had to resort to Codebreakering the shortcomings in this game (as few as they were).

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

docs answer is superb. my only add on would be if you have roommates who play a lot or you are going to take this thing online, then yes, you should finish reading this, and get to your local target and pick up this game.

however, if you aint got roomies to play with or friends who come over a lot to play vids, or you dont have the online capabilities, this game could get old. the season mode is WAY TO LINEAR. huge disappointment. while the voice acting is a nice touch, and there are a few character specific storylines out there (i have only confirmed a cena specific storyline), there is no substitute for a little variety.

i have not fucked with GM mode yet, so there could be another wrinkle to keep me busy for bit. either way, the movesets are a limited. i have found a few of my past favorites (mexican stretch buster and 99 crusher), but some have gone.

doc: mind translatin this - "The Doc's just mad he had to resort to Codebreakering the shortcomings in this game (as few as they were)."
