I haven't tried with the PS5 controller, but I couldn't get the feel of SFV with the DualShock controller at all. I couldn't do any move I could normally do on Xbox.

That game at launch felt like something only for eSports gamers and hardcore tourney heads, with little to no single player options for a while. I kept up on the upgrades as they trickled down, but V never sat with me like IV did.
I don't think the divide was as big as players going from II to III, but the divide was definitely felt.

I haven't played SFV in a while either. Strive is collecting dust. I hate getting bodied but I don't have enough time to lab and shit like that anymore.
7. "i mean you have to lose to know how to win" In response to Reply # 3
i play strive 4-5 hours a week, rarely labbing proper, just practicing combos while i wait for matches. i am getting by just fine in the park (unranked). however i don't have the patience to grind celestial. that is truly a frustrating process. for now i am good with being "stuck" on rank 10 and occasionally finding really good matchups in the park where we play 10-20 matches. i plan on entering NLBC strive tournament one of these days while i am still within the specified region

Strive is so beautiful. But I barely have/take the time to dig into it. And I can't make myself take the time to learn anyone other than Potemkin and a lazy/bad Leo.
And I stopped trying to get to Celestial pretty fast when it became clear that people were running scared on Floor 10. AKA folks were trying to cherry pick, run from matchups, etcetera.
So if I had a winning streak going? No one would fight me for a loooooong time. And hell, if someone was actually willing to fight me, I just assumed they were fully prepared to play in the most 'foot on the ropes/hand full of tights' way possible and either kill me dead with the repeat mixup until it works style or the get a life lead then run like a bitch for the rest of the round to win via timeout.
I'm too straight up for all of that shit. If I'm playing a game, I'm playing a game and I ain't hardly trying to run from anyone. If I win, cool. If I lose, cool. If I play you and I didn't enjoy it cuz setplay and/or running, I probably won't rematch. But not playing someone cuz of a character or win streak? Man, forget all of that. If I'm doing that, then I probably shouldn't be playing the game.

ranked in fighting games always sucks. always some folks cheesing or playing lame to protect/inflate their rank and they are unavoidable. i only play ranked to get up to a certain level so i get matched with better players

Yeah. I peek in here and there on it. And I eventually buy the characters, but the days of me putting in lots of time on SFV are long gone. Between this and Strive, I'll get back in sometime in the spring. My next thing to try is NBA2k22, my first 2k in a really long time. I'm going to find some sliders and then try to get to it!
Oddly enough, the game I keep going back to is Enter The Gungeon. I tried a little EXIT the Gungeon too. EtG is 1 hour in and out and still a blast for me to play while I'm listening to something else. And I don't always play with Gunslinger/Lich either. I've been enjoying Paradox quite a bit too. I'm not at 100% yet. I don't know if I'll get all the way there, but I'm going for it!

I’ll play three or four big single player games a year, but for the most part if I turn my console on it’s for SF.
I’m fine with this. I ain’t played 2K since like 2016. I don’t play shooters past the first month. I dabble in other fighting games. I only got time to really go in on one thing, and I’ve decided SF my one thing.

It appears the full cast was leaked as well. I'm assuming Capcom wasn't behind the full leakage since I imagine the full cast won't be available when the game launches, especially not for free. I can't see Capcom forgoing that sweet DLC money.
It also appears as if there will be single player action this go around based on the small snippets of a main character walking around what looks like Final Fight's Metro City. That might sucked a non-serious fighting game player such as myself in. That and the fact that I also saw online that simplistic non-motion based commands are going to be added to the game.
Seems like Capcom will hardcore into revamping Street Fighter. I hope the netcode will be up to snuff with all the added stuff that's packed in.

SFI - Meh SFII - Great SFIII = Meh, except to the hardcore SFIV - Great SFV - Hard sell (though nowhere near as bad as ST5. That's the Bruno of the film series) SFVI - ???
I do hope they put something in for single player, but I'm not sure I want that to be a lightly skinned Final Fight either. I'm sure I'll buy it, and sure I'll upgrade at least 2 of my fightsticks to work (I have a wireless Happ based PS4/PS3 stick in the works that I've got to get the PS5 add on for. My Sanwa/Seimitsu sticks will wait for the next wave of PCBs to drop).

Interesting how much work Capcom is putting into SFVI. I wonder what made the Capcom devs so humble. Now I won't feel so bad for wanting to look at the full roster with more attention.
I did notice that Dee Jay was one of the characters in the main roster. Sucks that he's a charge character, but I suppose I'll have to pick up that game for certain to play with my fellow countryman despite the fact I stink in playing fighting games.

it's a little janky. i'm sure they will figure it out. SFV looked awful before it released and ended up being a great product. i do like the utility of the drive gauge. people keep saying "focus attacks are back" but it looks more like blitz from guilty gear xrd rev2 to me. SFV became (relatively) wild after a slow start. hopefully SFVI starts off a little more wild than SFV did so it can go to crazier places in the future

I fell off paying attention to SFV during the pandemic when everything went online. Also hype that it's coming to more platforms since I mostly play on Xbox these days.
