"Recommend a game for the Atari 2600 and Why"

I have an Atari 2600 waiting for me at the crib right now. It came with the following games:
space invaders, combat, raiders of the lost arc, pitfall, missile command, air sea battle, pac man, night driver, canyon bomber, donkey kong, chopper command, asteroids, indy 500,and video pinball.

I'm definitely gonna get Superman and track and field. Probably Summer and Winter Games also. So let me know what's the essential Atari games I should have for my collection.

i would suggest

river raid
http://www.cubagames.com.br/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/river_raid2600.png
fly around shooting things and picking up fuel to continue

yars revenge
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_H0J0JGu7zbw/SK4c44tp_tI/AAAAAAAAArY/UFCS2YPm0GU/s400/Yars+Revenge.png
shoot to kill the bad guy and try not to die

defender
http://www.atariage.com/2600/screenshots/s_Defender_1.png
fly around shooting things while trying to stay alive and save people on the ground

cosmic ark
http://www.atariage.com/2600/screenshots/s_CosmicArk_1.png
you are a ship in the center of the screen and meteors come at you from all four sides and you move the joystick in the direction you want to shoot

dragonfire
http://www.atariage.com/2600/screenshots/s_Dragonfire_2.png
http://www.atariage.com/2600/screenshots/s_Dragonfire_3.png
in the first screen you had to run to the other side jumping over fireballs (and i think you could duck). the next screen you were in the dragons lair and you had to steal all his treasure by touching it and not get killed by the dragon and then it would repeat and get harder and harder.

some of the classics like frogger, centipede and qbert can be fun to a point

Kangaroo:

I honestly don't know how much fun this would be now, but I remember loving this shit when I was six or so. I never got too much time with it because it was my cousin's, but I liked it a lot.

Joust:

One of my favorite classic games and I liked the 2600 version more than most other versions.

Jungle hunt was a blast and it was the first game I've ever played back in 86, and Pole Position was also fun.

Back in the days that was one of the first WOW games for me. I was always more of a Pole Position II man myself but I'll give it a shot.

I didn't know some of these damn Atari games are mandatory 2 player games. This football game I have is straight 2 players whether you like it or not. What's up with that? I can't play it unless a friend is over.

Because it was one of the most popular video games ever to hit Detroit at that time.

In Detroit, having Defender in your ATARI library was standard operating procedure.

Each progressive spirit is opposed by a thousand mediocre minds appointed to guard the past. ~
