OK, admittedly I don't watch too much TV these days, so maybe there are still commercials like this, but I remember up until about the PS2 era The game companies used to go hard and call people out by name
Nowadays you don't really see this to much, which is odd since pretty much every system has some dirt on it that could be exploited X-box= Constantly breaking PS3= Overpriced Wii- Under powered, poor ratio of quality to crap library.

...they announced a CD and Modem for online play before the mega drive even was released in japan.. i remember they even had pictures in a promotional poster when Genesis came out..

>X-box= Constantly breaking Not necessarily true but they have a stupid high failure rate. There are launch 360s out there that are running fine. The library of games is diverse, they had the lead in launch.

Sony needs to bring back software emulation of the emotion engine not drop the price. PS2 is 100 bucks. Wanna play PS2 games, drop a Ben. Should've got in early.

....i can't remember the name of the system but it had this Basketball game that i couldn't stop playing.....it was like in 95 i think......it had three symbols; a triangle, a square, and a circle as it's logo......c'mon somebody help me out....please

I only played it in the arcades but I remember wanting a 3D0 just to play this game when it came out. It was the first b-ball game that had a baseline camera.
didnt have it at local arcade but when would go on trips or whatever to see family it seemed to always turn up. i didnt realize their was a console version

the Mega Drive/Genesis was not seeing the SNES on a technical level but (in the US) they had some games that were a nice alternative to the "family friendly" fare of Nintendo's non-Japanese output.
The addition of Sonic really made things heat up for them... The Doc'll still play the 16-bit Sonic games in 2009.
But with the Sega CD and the 32X came a whole lot of shovelware...more than usual. In most cases, the only benefit was Redbook Audio.
The marketing of the Saturn and the Dreamcast disgusts The Doc... ITDO, Dreamcast >>>>>>>>>>>> original XBox.
(on a slightly unrelated note: "What are you waiting for? Nintendo to make one?" Nintendo not making a CD system gave us the Playstation, a system that The Doc still calls the "SNES Mark II". Hilarious.)

sega ads during the genesis run changed the game. they came out with the loud "in your face" commercials that no one was doing before that. and eventually nintendo and companies adopted that style. even this n64 ad (which seems to be the directors cut instead of the :30) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJ2kwUboLDQ is very sega genesis like in terms of the kind of commercial.
