so out of a country of 130 million, "only" 13 million are interested (or rather not uninterested) in buying the iphone. There are no demo models or anything anywhere here and pretty much 100% of everyone already owns one or more phones. Hell, if apple sells 10 million handsets here I think they'd consider that a pretty massive success.
HTC -screen, while crystal clear, is too small -battery life is terrible. you gotta charge it daily according to those who have used it.
Omnia is killing both. -8/16gb internal plus up to 8gb micro sd -divx, xvid, mp4, wmv playback out the box -5mp camera w/flash -faster than the HTC w/much better battery life -reviews have been excellent
i'm waiting for the HTC Dream(1st Android device) specs. i want Android but for now the Omnia is looking great.

i'm really excited to see what they're going to have on opening day. Just the possibilities of having the same kinds of apps as on my comp on my ipod. A japanese-english dictionary with kanji recognition support and push updates over wifi? a real version of adobe acrobat (please god)? to me those two alone would be worth almost the price of the device. and the apps are only going to get better.
what are the limitations of the sdk? would you say that from a developer's point of view it's worse than windows mobile?
i'm really curious because everything i've read (1 article) seems to say that apple devs have access to way better apis than their windows counterparts, and that the development process is smoother.

You have to apply for a certificate and pay a fee if you ever plan on distributing your app.
Your application can be denied at any time for any reason. They don't even have to tell you why it was denied.
You have to distribute your app through their store. This means that they pretty much have full control of your application. If they don't like what you're doing or want to jack a feature you implement, they can do it with minimal fuss. Also, they get a 30% chunk of anything you sell.
You can't do things like implement a scripting engine. This means: +No browsers +No flash +Many games can't be implemented
Don't even think of making a Skype client. Porn apps? Nope! etc, etc
Basically they've crippled alot of things that would have made the SDK really cool.

but then on the other hand you can get your app in the store for free and get it exposed to everyone with an iphone/touch for free, if it's freeware. Plus if you're selling it you have a lot of targeted exposure through the itunes store that might be hard to build on your own through regular channels. In that way it seems like a great deal for up and coming devs.

when the SDK was first launched mofos were being declined left and right. This of course means they're shit out of luck. No (legal) iPhone distribution for them!

if you buy a refurbished one from att.com like a 16gb for 150. the new ones are expected to be announced in early june so you might wanna wait or get a cheaper refurbished one
