I copped. Still waiting for the full game to unlock, but I played the demo. The final game ain't ugly at all. It's just basic looking. I actually find it easier on the eyes than MKX or Killer Instinct, even though it's a lot less detailed than those games. Maybe BECAUSE it's a lot less detailed.
It ain't no looker like KOF XIII, of course. But what is?
The gameplay tho??? Feels great. They got the input buffer thing going on, so combos are eaiser to do than any previous KOF. Combo length is shorter too, so no more of those Marvel vs. Capcom ass combos XIII had. Max Mode feels like v-trigger. It even has a little run cancel thing if you activate mid-combo.
I'm definitely gonna run with the new boxer, Nelson, and King. Because boxers are dope and King is one of the top 5 fighting game characters of all time and I will play her in every game she's in. Not sure who my third pick is yet.

until amazon hit me with the 'ITS SHIPPED AND ON ITS WAY'. The demo was solid; could never get into KOF because the fundementals were a bit elusive to me (the different jumps) but ive got no problem supporting
You can't be mad at that package out the box, around 50 fighters

Actual gameplay?
The 3D models are disappointing compared to old SNK sprite art, but they managed to clean things up and make a good looking game. The backgrounds are especially well done, and a lot of the more recent character models look straight up great.
By all means, wait for that Steam sale, but this game has more than enough aesthetic charm.

Kinda like they're going for the style of a PS2 game, but it's a bit more advanced than what you could do with an actual PS2. The backgrounds especially seem too good just from what I've seen from the top eight on WNF:

You right about King, she's too damn good in this game, in every KOF actually. Boxer being all input is interesting to me. I was hoping my girl Vanessa was in this one but maybe next time.

You're right tho; I can't think of a Japanese developer, even outside of fighting games, that's as committed to patches/improving/keeping the game alive. Shit, I can't even think of a US developer that's gone out of their way to clean up the graphics the way they did (that shit was PS2 quality tho, LOL)
