When you’re a guy known for taking tough shots, and you make a lot of them on the world’s biggest stage… you might just need to go. Juzang came back, and he even played well this season, but his stock is completely gone now.
Everyone always gets seduced into the idea of “come back, play better, and you’ll be drafted higher,” but if you’re still basically the same player and you’re a year older, the stock doesn’t improve. Maybe if Love became even more of a PG and less of a SG, that’d help… but with Davis back, will he really get the chance to do that on any noteworthy scale? And I think Love will just keep taking tough shots. It seems like that’s his game. So even if the shooting numbers improve, I’m not convinced I see them improving to, like, consistent 40+% shooter from 3. He’s just too fond of jacking sometimes, lol. And Hubert’s offense kinda encourages jacking.
The bigger question for me is if Bacot comes back. I honestly think Love should go— think he’d go second round, get taken on his last month, his positional size, and his upside in a draft that’s weak on guards— and Bacot should return, because Bacot’s just not an NBA Draft pick imo. (At least not a guaranteed deal Top 40-45 type of pick, anyway.) If Bacot and Davis are back, I don’t think Love would be missed tbh.
