it didn't really make sense in retrospect, as Herman had to know Strong was out after the Kansas game and Texas is a much better fit for him. I'm sure he listened to LSU, but there was no reason to accept terms with the Texas job open.
and although I've dumped on him in the past, I kind of like the Orgeron hire for LSU. he's a legendary recruiter (and for those who say LSU recruits itself, only a few coaches can go into Atlanta or Houston or Miami and convince a kid and their family to change allegiances...he's one of them) and could work out as a CEO type with the right assistants.
he'll get his teams to play hard for him and is already keeping Aranda. he picks the right offensive coordinator and they develop a QB, there's no reason they can't be right back at the top tier of the SEC. is Orgeron a better coach than Saban? no, but neither was Miles and he still went 3-3 against Saban until all his coaching warts got bigger. besides, who else was a slam dunk? there is no reason for Fisher to be at LSU, as he gets all the players he wants at FSU and any coach would rather have Swinney as your rival instead of Saban.
