"Weekend Soccer 02.12-15: Mahrez Attacks"

Any other season, the prospect of having Man City-Spurs and Arsenal-Leicester on the same weekend probably wouldn't have registered much, if at all. But since we are currently all living inside a temporal space-time rift these games will feature the top 4 going at it, with a very real chance of Leicester and Spurs breaking away a little bit more. Of the top quartet, Man City are probably feeling the most pressure to notch a win this weekend, but with Silva added to their lengthy injury list, and the Spurs rolling (4 straight wins, 7 out of 9), odds could be higher. Kompany is said to be back on the squad but probably won't play. Spurs have been noted for their league-leading defense, but their steadiness on offense has also sustained their good form. Kane is at 15 goals now, while Eriksen has stealthily been one of EPL's best players in 2016 (http://tiny.cc/wfx38x).

Arsenal finally got some needed goals (and a win) at Bournemouth last weekend, but with their recent record against top teams being what it is, they'll have to be cautious. Especially considering how smoothly Leicester has been in letting big teams come at them while making the most of their opportunities, with the razor sharp Ngolo Kante feeding the forwards. Keep in mind though that Leicester have only won 1 in 19 against the Gunners.

Chelsea have a chance to keep their unbeaten run going for a 10th game, and with Newcastly coming to town, maybe a win this time? Sunderland will try to mess things up for United, a week after doing it to Liverpool. Defoe is on 6 goals in 6 so far this year, although half of those came in one game. The Reds have Villa at home, a game which is easy on paper but things haven't worked that way at Anfield lately.

In the Serie A there is a yuuuge clash as Napoli go to Juventus, who have won 14 straight. Napoli are still tops thanks to the prolific Higuain but Juventus have an air of inevitability about them.
