"COLLEGE BASKETBALL: DAY 1"
On tap:
11 AM: Texas Southern at Eastern Washington
I don't know where you'd watch this amuse bouche for today's main course. But I'll find it.
6 PM: Presbyterian at Duke, ESPNU
K's been starting three freshmen and Matt Jones. I'll be very excited if he sticks with that lineup.
6:30: Tennessee vs VCU, CBSSN
I like Tyndall, but the Vols have lost a ton. Rams have a nice backcourt and Shaka.
7:30: Minnesota vs. Louisville, ESPN
PITINO BATTLE ROYALE. The Gophers don't have an answer for Harrell... but they have a more experienced backcourt. Could be closer than one may think.
8: Grand Canyon at UK, SECN
Won't be too interesting, but Majerle might make a push for the WAC title this year. Not enough talent to make things truly interesting, though.
8: NC Central at UNC, ESPNU
Roy's usually good for one embarrassing early season loss. NC Central is no joke, and if they somehow won in Chapel Hill, just shut down the Triangle for all weekend... maybe all month.
8: Drexel at Colorado, Pac-12 Network
Colorado should be ranked. It would serve them well to beat Bruiser Flint, who always gives good teams a tough pre-conference challenge.
9: New Mexico State at Wichita State, ESPN3
The Shockers kept enough talent that they have a real shot to go undefeated again. But they'll have their hands full early with New Mexico State. Mullings vs. VanVleet may be the best matchup of the night.
9:30: Hampton at Iowa, ESPN3
Can I call Upset Watch with an unranked team? Hampton has good guard play, and Iowa may not have figured out their go-to scorer with Marble gone. Could get interesting here.
