In the middle of this NFL public relations fiasco one of its biggest sponsors, Anheuser-Busch, released a statement on Tuesday (September 16, 2014) expressing concern for the league’s handling of recent off-field problems.

“We are disappointed and increasingly concerned by the recent incidents that have overshadowed this NFL season. We are not yet satisfied with the league’s handling of behaviors that so clearly go against our own company culture and moral code. We have shared our concerns and expectations with the league.”
Outspoken Houston Texans running back Arian Foster did not take the adult beverages companies words to kindly and chose to express his thoughts on Twitter about the company:

Selling poison on that high horse.

Domestic violence and alcohol damn near synonymous.

Foster made a strong point. Studies have shown a direct connection between alcohol and drug abuse with domestic violence so Anheuser-Busch’s “holier than thou” or “disappointed” statements seen as BS. It is all about money and image. More so the money imagesV0B7OPEXbecause image only comes into play when it affects the money.

Anytime it’s starts to tinkering with their bottom line, then they act. Now they’re concerned.

imagesN0UNPORCThese companies need to just step back and let the NFL handle their problems. Domestic violence is an ugly problem but the problem is not with the NFL. The NFL did not invent domestic violence and it is just one of societal ills. Social media allows people to create “hot topics” but its short attention span does not truly foster long-term solutions.
