>Playing up the Celtics as 'whooping ass' while saying Orlando >'easily could have won' speaks directly to that...you're >applying certain hypotheticals to one situation while not >applying similar ones to a different one in order to prop up >the strength of the EC. Jameer was the Magic's 2nd best player while Ariza/Bynum weren't even the 3rd best players on the Lakers. All the Lakers did was win 2 home games against a Celtics squad that COULDN'T win ON THE ROAD in ATL against the 37-45 Hawks. Besides, Gm 6 was an absolute massacre that it's hard for anyone to say they had a chance w/o the HCA. That series was effectively over after Bean & the Lakers bench nutted on themselves in the second-half of Gm 5 at STAPLES.
>That's a clear double-standard which >undermines your credibility on the point. If you're claiming that I'm exaggerating (which I'm not) then why aren't you getting on the case of dula dibiasi who's claiming the ECF in the past 15 years is comparable to the WC-semis......you know making unfounded claims by pulling fact out of his ass. Your bias is actually obvious....your feathers ONLY flutter when the Lakers aren't being put on a pedestal.
>The silliest part about the hypothetical game is that if we >play what-if's with the original team and player that was >being discussed, the Suns and Nash have a good chance of >reaching two finals which completely deads all these >arguments...the Joe Johnson injury and the Amare suspension >are what I'm referring to. The Suns had a million shots against the Spurs & came up short each time b/c of their defensive short-comings..there is nothing "what if" about that rivalry except maybe "what if D'Antoni put SOME emphasis on defense?".
Could they have EASILY beaten the Spurs in 2005 & 2007? Theoretically yeah but I doubt they could have ACTUALLY beaten them considering that they couldn't get a stop against the Spurs when they needed it most. It wasn't like they were missing their closer, Mr. MVP, & ended up losing close games.....nope, they lost b/c they couldn't get a stop. (Manu dropped 48 on Joe Johnson during the regular season in 2005 & Amare had no chance against Tim in the post so they weren't going to be missed defensively....they also both played in the close out games which the Suns lost). The Suns also lost the 2006 WCF b/c they couldn't get a stop against the Mavs in the 4th quarter....it was their "Achilles Heel" during the D'Antoni era. If they had a guy like Tyson Chandler then he could have put them over the hump ala the Mavs....but Kerr took a shot on Shaq as his Tim Stopper (LMAO!).
If you want to argue that the Kings should have beaten the Lakers in 2002 if they didn't get BLATANTLY jobbed by the refs in Gm 6 along w/ the "Lucky Shot" in Gm 4 resulting from a broken play then you have a good case.
>Also, you made the Lakers comments in response to my reply, I >didn't jump in...so not sure what you're talking about with >ruffled feathers or any of the other nonsense. If someone >replies to me, I'm gonna respond back...shocking concept. LOL...Seems like you fluttered your feathers on TWO different threads (see post 36).
