"Are there enough winter sports or participants for an entire Olympics?"


          

It seems like they just keep coming up with stupid variations of the same sport to fill out the games.

Core sports:

Alpine skiing
Nordic skiing
Freestyle skiing
Figure skating
Speed Skating
Biathlon
Hockey
Curling
Bobsled
Luge

Everythine else is an event in one of these sports. Compare that to summer where you have:

Track
Swimming
Diving
Gymnastics
Boxing
Volleyball
Basketball
Handball
Water Polo
Judo
Fencing
Tae Kwon Do
Wrestling
Weight-lifting
Archery
Rowing
Equestrian events
Soccer
Tennis
Shooting
Modern Pentathlon


Add that to the fact that most of the countries in the world don't even really compete in winter sports. What's the point?
