Can't. Wait. Any. Longer. Watching Kansas, St. John's, and Michigan exhibition games will only quench so much of my thirst.
The layout of the day's nationally televised games, noted in EST.
1 PM: Army vs. Air Force, ESPNU
First game on TV of the season!
3 PM: North Florida at Florida, ESPN3
Watch Kasey Hill, Patric Young, and Chris Walk... I mean, Dorian Finn... I mean, Scottie Wilbe... watch Hill and Young!
6 PM: Boston College at Providence, Fox Sports 1
Hot bubble action!
*6:30 PM: UConn vs. Maryland, ESPN2
Must-win for Maryland's tourney hopes, facing one of the best backcourts in the country... shitty time to lose your starting PG to injury.
*7 PM: Davidson at Duke, ESPNU
Davidson traditionally gives Duke a tough game. Will be a good early test for Duke's perimeter defense. Rodney Hood vs. De'Mon Brooks should be fun.
*7 PM: St. John's vs. Wisconsin, BTN
Now that Artis is out for Oregon, might be the best game of the day. Rysheed Jordan is no joke.
7 PM: UNC-Asheville at Kentucky, ESPN3
Admit it, you wanna see the freshmen.
7 PM: Miami (OH) at Notre Dame, ESPN3
Is this closer to a 4 seed Notre Dame... or closer to a 6 seed Notre Dame? I love Grant... but we'll see.
*8 PM: Georgetown vs. Oregon, ESPN
Losing Artis for this matchup reeeeeeally sucks for Oregon. They weren't the same without him last year. People who want to keep an eye out for Josh Smith (I dub thee "Weight Watchers"), this is a great opportunity for him to show what he's got against an Oregon team that will really miss Kazemi if Smith plays normal minutes.
8 PM: Louisiana-Monroe at Kansas, ESPN3
KU is gonna be very fun to watch this year (by far the most fun to watch in exhibition). So many compelling players on the court.
8 PM: Buffalo at Texas A&M, ESPN3
Bobby Hurley sighting! (Literally the only reason to tune in.)
*8 PM: Mercer at Texas, Longhorn Network
You think Rick Barnes' seat is hot now? If they open the season against a conference-contending Mercer squad and lose/win very close at home, watch that cushion go to a full-blown broil.
*9 PM: Florida Gulf Coast at Nebraska, BTN
BRETT COMER POWER! He takes on Gallegos in a match I firmly expect Dunk City to win, even without Enfield or Sherwood Brown. Nebraska es no bueno.
*9 PM: Oakland at UNC
Not sure where this is on TV... but I wants ta watch.
9:05 PM: USC at Utah State, CBS Sports Network
For those who wanna see the actual Enfield. USC may be a hot mess this year until Enfield gets a class or two of his type of guys on the roster... but they may be a very fun hot mess.
*10 PM: Colorado at Baylor
Again, not sure where this is on TV, but I wanna watch.
*12 AM: Drexel at UCLA, Pac-12 Networks
This may not be a fun game to watch, as both teams will play low-scoring, grind-it-out ball. But Bruiser Flint's teams are always a pain in the ass, and Kyle Anderson/Jordan Adams should be an exciting backcourt to watch once they get rolling.
SO EXCITING.
BTW, as a totally cheap plug, I put asterisks by all the games we break down/give predictions for on the new episode of the college hoops podcast I do with Basaglia and KBadd, 2.1 Seconds to Madness. You can listen here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/2.1-seconds-to-madness/id731295234
