Due to various combinations of injury and attrition, it never quite came together. The best chance he had was a couple of years ago when we had Colt Lyerla for his first year, with David Paulsen and JC could-have-been-a-beast Brandon Williams already on the roster. Williams got injured, and we could barely run a two-TE set due to the lack of experience at the position.
It's been obvious following recruiting that Chip wanted to be able to put 3-4 TE type bodies on the field that could both block and run/catch - which would effectively let him call anything he wanted at any point without having to worry about personnel.
