Celtics coach Brad Stevens has hired a 23-year-old statistical analyst, Drew Cannon, who was part of his staff with Butler. "Drew has a great ability to not only analyze but communicate," said Stevens. "He's got a sense for the basketball side of things and he's a good communicator to me with it." The hiring of the recent Duke graduate by a 36-year-old head coach is further proof that Boston is embracing a new model for success, one in which advanced statistics play a key role.
Funny thing is they'll get shade this yr cause we all know the team isn't talented enough to compete right away. But it'll be a nice way to bash analytical and not see how it's also tied to traditional talent/eye tests.
