I am all for emotion and even when it goes over the top. I love that shit.
But staged celebrations are boring and a culture of constant adulation is also repugnant to me like it is the OP.
That is one of the things I like about soccer and hockey, the games are too fast for that shit. You can really only go nuts on goals and even then it's usually kind of a team thing, and even if not, it's definitely worth celebrating.
Even when I used to play basketball, I hated when people would give dap for making a foul shot. Personally I didn't like to touch a bunch of sweaty hands between shots and also I don't think a FREE THROW needs any sort of recognition.
