"Knicks stay dreaming: CP3 to NY?"
Fri Jan-11-13 02:12 PM by melmag

Chris Paul turned down a three-year, $60 million contract extension from the Los Angeles Clippers, spurring New York Knicks fans to hold onto that wild idea that Paul could sign with New York.

This theory is not coming out of thin air, either. At Carmelo Anthony’s wedding two years ago, Paul gave a toast saying that he, Anthony, and Amar’e Stoudemire could their “own big three in New York,” referencing the recent moves by the Miami Heat in adding LeBron James and Chris Bosh to Dwyane Wade’s team.

Although he has been pleased with what the Clippers have been doing this season, Paul wouldn’t rule out New York as option. Anthony simply smiled when reporters asked him about the idea of he and Paul joining forces on the Knicks.

However, Paul may just be making a financial decision, here. At the end of the season, he can sign a five-year, $108 deal with L.A., so it wouldn’t make sense for him to take less money now.

There are definite signs that Paul could become a Knick in the future, though. After a Team USA Olympic practice over the summer, Paul and Anthony walked through the media room together, and ‘Melo said to reporters, “you’ll see him in New York in a couple years.”

In not signing Jeremy Lin to an outrageous deal over the off-season, New York left the door open for Paul to come to New York. Raymond Felton is playing great this season for the Knicks, but CP3 is the best point guard in the league.

The Knicks are 23-10, Anthony is playing at an MVP level, and here we are talking about bringing the NBA’s best PG to New York. Life is good for Knicks fans right now.
