(long post incoming...started replying to this but got ppl asking me what's wrong so I wrote up some bullshit for friends)
...To see Cam's body fall apart. And Josh's throwing shoulder is already banged up this year. He clearly isn't comfortable playing with the guardrails up. He needs to check down more, gets locked on people, every play can't be an 8 second scramble drill.
But would I trade a Super Bowl W for a shorter career for the QB? Yea I would. End of the day, it's football. Play to your strengths, kill the neuroticism. But this season, the defense is a hospital scene. Gonna have to put up points. Dont know that D can be patched together at this point. LB is a problem. Landing Rasul Douglas was a great move. New addition Linval Joseph throwing Burrow by the nuts was good to see.
Best targets are Diggs and a rookie TE. Gotta get Cook, Shakir, Harty the ball in space on easy throws. Don't have a Smoke Brown, Emmanuel Sanders burner to run gos opposite 14. Hope Shakir can be that sit down where they ain't Beasley type. Gabe disappears, shrinking violet. Stef needs to smack the introvert out of him. Never seen Gabe jaw at anyone. Too many nice guys on the team. Maybe Fournette can infuse some winning attitude? Don't know much about him.
Can't remember seeing Dorsey scheme up a screen for Cook that went for big yards. Hard to tell how much is Josh ignoring open stuff underneath and going for home run balls vs guys not being open. Definitely a combo. Lot of blame to go around. Dorsey doesn't install plays/coach well. So many little things are off, pre-snap diagnosis of defense has dropped off... whether cuz Josh can't think good and shit at the line or the coaches ain't giving him the right frameworks for thinking through it all and executing, hard to say. But often... no one but Diggs getting separation...so Josh tries to freestyle when he should be doing simple shit, taking easy checkdown yards. Offense is way better in hurry up when Josh gets to just play.
Dalton Kincaid though. Looks great. Boody and Gronk, Mahomes and Mr Swift...Joshua and Dalton K? The outlet valve. Knox has brick hands, Kincaid moves smooth and, too soon to say, but looks like he might have those big soft pigskin caressing tight end mitts. I can picture balls smacking into Gronk's gloves like bowling ball landing on a bed in a commercial. Please let Josh's balls be treated likewiser by Dalton's hands. Can I say pause? Kincaid fumble on the flip was a tough break...great punchout by the D. Was glad to see on replay it got punched out and he hadn't shit his pants and blacked out from the getting sent to space camp.
Last thing on the injury risk to QB...seems like the most damaging hits he takes are running out of the pocket toward the sideline looking to throw. When he steps up and runs for an easy 8 or 14 yards...for the most part, he's got a good feel for getting "tackled well". His instinct to subtly deke and throw people off balance is something that can't be taught. He's got a great feel for bodies in motion and how to maximize his leverage. See: running untouched for 6 on the first half TD run against Bucks Thursday night. Stopping on a dime and ducking under Sam Hubbard then skittering for the first last night. It's when he deactivates this mode and tries to go robo stand in the pocket mode that his eyes go blind. Maybe he has something in common with Russell Wilson here. They both like to extend and see the field while in motion, go braindead in drop, scan, select and fire mode. Josh Allen likes to play football. When he runs for a first down , takes a hit and pops up talking shit...the bath salts exit his pituitary and enter general circulation. His body language, his eyes at the line of scrimmage change. There was a shot in the broadcast of his eyes last night during the late Diggs TD drive. And I knew he was alive, a TD was inevitable. He plays best adrenalized. Maybe not a formula for longevity. A better coach might be able to whisper him up a better mindstate. There are clear signs they are talking down to the guy and getting him to fall in line. 13 seconds KC game...he hit insane levels. Flow-state QB perfection. Can't get there rationally. Let him go win is how a lot of us feel. Seems like they need to get out of his way and admit ain't no sense in teaching lockpicking to a grizzly bear. Let that dude claw his own way to the porridge.
His INTs feel less like him being reckless than him being extremely repressed and not being able to flip the switch on at will and hesi-hiccuping way out of rhythm. Arm tourettes trying to play within narrow confines. He plays well reckless, can feel the game, see the field when he plays his game. I think gotta get things going with the short passing game with an option to run. Long developing plays with him a duck on a leash in the pocket are not the move until he's activated and sensing well.

Wasn't the start of Cam's shoulder trouble from him super-manning out trying to tackle a guy returning a pick? I think Josh can still run very effectively without a huge amount of risk. Make two dudes miss but then...don't end the run like Mike Alstott...the extra 3 yards ain't worth it.
