35. "We’re dealing with injuries to our most important players." In response to In response to 34
Fofana Kante James Chilwell.
Chilwell and James are masters of the wingback position, and since Alonso is no longer on the team, there isn’t another player on the team that can play the wingback position similar to those players. The situation has extremely hurt our ability to generate any type of attack.
I personally feel that we should be playing a 4-3-3 to compensate our inability to play a 3-4-3 at the moment. A 5-4-1 isn’t going to cut it without a true number 9 to play up top. Auba is more of winger/ slash striker. He isn’t a center forward who can play with his back to the goal or provide good hold up play, and Sterling sure as hell isn’t a striker, and neither is Pulisic
Plus we’re carrying a lot of young, young players who just aren’t ready yet. Broja, Gallagher, Chalobah. They are talented, but they need time to fully mature.
We just have to weather the storm until the club is fully healthy, and we always play like shit in the months of November/December. We’re a huge second half team…. see last season and the season before that.
We have no choice but to play not to lose right now….after the World Cup we will be ready to mash all comers.
