Right after Curry's last free throw, Lue could've called a timeout, reset the situation ("We're down by 1 and NO MORE TIMEOUTS. Here's our play -> give to LeBron!") and advanced the ball to halfcourt.
Doesn't happen. As they inbound, Lue's up by the scorer's table, apparently by himself. Maybe he quickly huddled with Bron or someone else off camera, but it sure appears he's a spectator at this point.
2nd opportunity is after Hill is fouled. Maybe you're worried you'll ice your own player if you call a TO now but Hill's got the thousand yard stare at 1:46 and 2:13.
Icing aside, I think you take the timeout to get organized because there are 4 different possible outcomes at this point:
1: Hill misses both: Down by 1. Need to rebound at all costs and score... worst case, foul to prolong game 2. Hill makes both: Up by 1. Deny Curry, play solid D, no fouls! 3. Hill misses first, makes second. Tied up. Play solid D, no fouls! 4. Hill makes first, misses 2nd. Tied up. REBOUND and take best available shot. If you don't get rebound, no FOULS!
You'd have to simplify for the likes of JR but Lue either has to reach JR or know that he can't be trusted on the court in that moment.
But again, no timeout, no huddle... I guess this a team of champions and they all know exactly what their options are and instinctively what needs to be done... right?
There was one last opportunity after the rebound but they were too far gone at this point if even LeBron didn't know they had a remaining TO. <-><-><-><-><-><-><-><-><-> <-><-><-><-><-><-><-><-><->
