I think you may be underestimating him. I don't think Kidd just rolled out of bed after retirement and decided he wanted to coach, I think he's been preparing for this for a while. I think he'll have a lot in his toolbag from B-Scott, Carlisle, Woodson, and even coach K, even the last Olympic team in 2012 even though Kidd wasn't on the roster he spent some time at training camp as "unofficial asst coach" working with the guards. Like you say he will need some strong assistants with him as all head coaches do but I think he can do well.
