they knew what they were signaling. the disgusting thing is how many ultra-right wing people there are who agree. they learned only part of the lesson of the holocaust--yes, we jews needed a land and a national identity. they forgot the other half: any desire for racial/ethnic/religious "purity" is the root of the most evil acts humanity can do.
