maybe if i close my eyes and count from 10 to 1
it'll take me back to the day it all begun
when innocence was stolen and all was lost
and i vowed to make them all pay the ultimate cost
when i began to hide inside myself
and stopped caring about the cards that i was dealt
to the first time nunu rubbed my head til i fell asleep
see, that was when she promised that my secret she'd keep
that night i laid in her arms in a chair in my hospital room
so terrified to get into another bed i curled up against her womb
i awoke and thought i must've been crying in my sleep
till i realized those were her tears hitting my cheek
it was then that i became meek
and wanted to disappear
cuz the break in her heart was just that severe
it took years
and a whole lotta tears
for things to stop being unclear
and for me to be able to finally accept and hear
that for my own rape i did not volunteer
