"I told him to talk with Paul Simon"

You are my hip-hop, you’re my rock and roll.
You are my R&B, you are my soul.
You’re the music that pulsates through my veins.
You give me life, you make me sane.
When I dance, it’s you I want to look.
Watchin like, “damn!”, walkin away a little shook.
Singin the song, images of you creep into my mind.
Feelin the treble, the bass, keeping to the time.
But this song I sing is one of Rhythm & Blues,
Because in this relationship, it’s not just me and you.
You will always be the right bit of wrong,
though undoubtedly the wrong kind of right.
So I throw up my hands, I’m tired, this hurts,
I want to give up this fight.
The record skips, it’s broken and I know that I’ve lost.
The choice has been made; you stand your ground, at whatever the cost.
However, I have yet to figure out how this song will conclude.
Though I hope its meaning won’t be lost or misconstrued.
