4. "Hot take, but I definitely liked it more than the first." In response to In response to 3
I don't really think it all works, and it's definitely too long, but taking the uniquely American fantasy that deluded individuals use to gun people down and exploring it through the uniquely American expressions of the Great American Songbook and the classic Hollywood musical... I thought that was fascinating. I wish they'd pushed the musical numbers to be even bigger and more fantastical... but ultimately I more or less enjoyed it.
I also really liked the different take on Harley, making her a rich kid pseudo-revolutionary content to rage against the machine without ever putting anything at risk. It's not "the Joker and Harley" as we know them... but hey, if we're going to keep trudging up the same IP over and over, I'm happy for people to try something more audacious like this with it. (After this tanked, they won't be allowed to again... but it's a nice idea!)
Also the movie looked and sounded great. That tracking shot after the explosion was absolutely bonkers.
