Granted, I was relatively young when the OG came out so I don't have a lot of attachment to the characters, but it felt like it was written to be "1999" good, not 2022 good. It seemed to lean heavy on nostalgia, and to me, some of the story just felt thrown together to check off certain boxes in the drama category (for example, what was the point of the guy Jordan met in Saint Pierre?). But everyone I talked to so far seems to have enjoyed it, so I guess me and my girl are in the minority.
