Some of my wife's friends enlisted us into organized movie-watching-and-discussion last year, and one of them picked the original Nightmare Alley last July. I'd never heard of it and nobody mentioned at the time that it was going to be remade. It was really grim. I thought some of the moralizing was more on-the-nose than we'd tolerate in a modern movie, so I'm curious to see how that played in this one.

Thank you for posting about it. I needed the reminder.
