That part you quoted literally begins with DC and Fox making "their own style of movies." They don't need to have the Marvel style or tone whatsoever, and I actually would be happy for them to do something different. X2 is still probably in my top 3 comic book movies *ever,* and it's a notably different style than the MCU-- it just has better character development and storytelling than literally every other X-Men movie combined.

Developed characters and engaging yet simple stories aren't part of the style-- they're part of the fundamental tenets of storytelling.
