Not just visually, but also the story and dialogue. It's hauntingly romantic and gothic without being laughably morose. Like you said, the casting is key here, and there is not a single misstep in that regard. Hiddleston and Swinton are magnetic together. And Hurt's Marlow, even with what little screentime he has is fantastic.
Jarmusch outdid himself here. I'd love to know what those action scenes you mentioned were all about.
