The problem is that the show begins with the actual cop murder by Strong and James, who then spend most of the next hour exchanging knowing/fearful glances between each other when developments warrant (oh shit, Internal Affairs has shown up! oh shit, they found a body in the trunk that we totally didn't know was there when we put the cop's dead body in the car and set it up to look like his drowning was a suicide!) while trying to live up to the fireworks of that early event
Yeah, "stuff happens" and the oh-so-important plot moves forward but it's barely involving as a mystery
And I'm also not yet clear on the subplot involving some kind of apparent drug dealers and/or cops gone rogue
I'm a fan of the cast, however, including Ruben Santiago-Hudson as the chief and David Costabile as I A)
Oh, and Athena Karkanis is hot
And for my Detroiters who hope/believe that the show should address the bankruptcy, don't hold your breath; it's apparently lightly touched upon in the last 2 episodes of the season, and may play a larger role in season 2, if the show gets that order
