over in the lesson, nukkapedia says that he has been tapped to play marvin gaye in an upcoming film. i had suggested chiwetel ejiofor, but since he's playing fela, i think it's fair to spread the love around.

however, i don't like terence howard. he was cool when he was playing the shady friend in umpteen black romantic comedies 10 years ago. but now he just annoys me. i feel like he gets over in hollywood because he's a "pretty boy", an acceptable-looking negro. i don't feel that he's a very good actor & that's the only reasonable explanation for his continuing to get movie roles. nukka suggested that halle berry gets over similarly -- but as far as i can tell, she basically no longer gets any movie roles unless she's producing the film.

am i alone in disliking terence howard? what are your feelings on him as an actor and as a black leading man in hollywood?
