"Boyz N the Hood >>> Juice >>>>>>>>>>> Menace 2 Society" Wed Mar-25-09 12:07 PM by Orbit_Established
(I almost didn't include 'Boyz' in this until I realized I'd piss off all the Cali niggas)
'Menace' probably received the most pure critical acclaim, but that's because white people thought they were watching a crime story(more on this later).
All are good, but 'Menace 2 Society' had some really, really, really, shitty acting. Again -- white people didn't notice it because most don't actually know any black people and have no basis for comparison.
'Menace' was BEAUTIFULLY shot, and was an enchanting, dark, great fucking story.
But goddamn Kane couldn't act for shit.
Jada was excellent, though.
But the rest of them?
*thumbs down*
And Larenz? Meh.
Pac as Bishop >>>> Tate as O-Dogg
Pac > Cube >>>>> Tate
Pac and Cube had DEPTH. Tate was basically a cold-blooded villain. I mean, sure, people are like that but it was still corny. I knew niggas personally with bodies on them who hugged and kissed they mama.
Boyz N the Hood's acting >>>>>>>>> Menace 2 Society's acting.
Juice's acting >>>>> Menace 2 Society's acting
The acting in Menace was so bad that i've begun seeing some of the original criticisms as valid: 'Menace' was lauded by white America as a crime story(when it really wasn't supposed to be one) largely because the characters seemed too fucking contrived and extreme.
