So this is the first time I've been "hired" to direct a show. The old folks in the Theater Department at Duke were looking for a distinction project for a friend of mine, who's a senior. Oleanna was something that intrigued him, and he'd talked it over with me. However, the production would need a good director for the committee to approve it. I'd directed this young man in two shows during my time at Duke, and have gotten very good work out of him. When he found out I'd be in town, we agreed that I could direct this show, but that I'd need to get something out of it. Long story short, the department agreed, and I'm sitting on a nice director's check. Booyah!
It's in a really small black box, about 75-80 seats staged in the round. But it's very interesting-- unlike any Oleanna you've ever seen or your money back. Admission is free to the show, which is this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 8 PM, and Sunday at 2 PM in Brody Theater at Duke University. You can inbox me if you'd like more specific directions.
If any of y'all are in the Triangle area, it'd be awesome if you came, met your beloved moderator, and enjoyed some really challenging and thought-provoking theater. I know most of you aren't around, lol. But I figured what the hell.
