>TS3 ended with great closure (Andy giving the toys including >Woody to Bonnie) and hope for the future. He was really >reluctant about giving Woody to her, hadn’t intended to but >Woody was in the box and he saw how her face lit up when she >saw him. So to have TS4 take that and end up with Bonnie not >playing with Woody at all and him leaving her works within TS4 >itself but definitely takes away from that impactful moment in >TS3 with Andy passing Woody to Bonnie.
Consider that Woody (according to Andy's mom in 2) was an actual FAMILY HEIRLOOM passed down to Andy from some unknown elder
For Andy to give it to her, and a year or so later for her to have totally lost interest in him (which isn't in and of itself weird, cause kids are indeed fickle like that)
then he gets "lost" (at least to Bonnie he will be). not to mention what we were shown he was a toy kept in pretty much pristine condition for 30+ years
They would have been better off getting put in the attic until Andy could pass them to HIS kids when he got older
this movie kinda throws a bunch of the warm fuzzyies of the previous ending away
