it is SO creative in its storytelling, it shows that you DON'T have to have a TON of super expensive special effects to VERY SATISFYINGLY express super POWERS. you can tell that the creators on THIS show thought a lot...a LOT about how BEST to create and express awe, excitement, power, fear etc...the creative combination of practical, digital, old school & new school tools to tell this story is so refreshing and thrilling to me...
as we were midway through this episode i snapped my fingers as i realized something...my wife hit pause and said 'what?'...i was like, "this show is SO good SO creative, it reminds me of what a TV show would be if one of my favorite comic artists Bill Sienkiewicz was a TV creator." (my wife didn't read comics so she didn't know who Bill Sienkiewicz was, so i explained how ahead of his time, unpredictable and super creative Bills art has always been...and how this TV show gives me that same feeling. told her id dig up some of my Sienkiewicz comics and show her over the weekend...
i'll be damned if at the end of the Episode i decide to read the credits and notice that the TV series is based/inspired by a Bill Sienkiewicz & Chris Claremont...hah, who knew?
