and it's more of a dark drama with thriller elements...
but I was impressed. Edgerton is proving without a doubt he's going to have a fantastic ass career behind the scenes if he wants it (he does) in addition to being an in demand actor (and one that truly enjoys being a character actor at that)...
I can't wait to see what he does next as a writer director and I definitely can't wait to see what he does in Black Mass, Midnight Special *AND* the Loving biopic (which he's gearing up to shoot soon alongside everyone's Black European actress bae Ruth Negga)
but what I DID love about The Gift was that NO ONE was guilt free in this: each of the characters were at times both sympathetic and not even throughout the film.
Rebecca Hall was fantastic in this. Talk about someone who needs to work more.
It was a good film and a great choice for Blumhouse, who seems to be moving into this diverse, genre space with some of the films they've been choosing to back.
And double shout out to new mini-studio STX Entertainment, who seems pretty determined to bring back smart, adult, high end indie to mid budget films...
