So needless to say, I'm there.
I *sort of* get where the "unintentional self-parody" comes from, but then again, he's been working in pretty much the same exact style since '78.
The fluid structure, rapid editing, free-association image juxtapositions, vaguely cosmic voice-overs, existential despair, etc. aren't going anywhere, nor should they.
I just find it hard to criticize someone for working within their own style, especially when it's such an entirely singular style.
(By the way, I didn't *love* To The Wonder, but I still thought it had considerable merit even though it was admittedly slight in the wake of Tree of Life. Pretty much everything aside from that one is a damn-near masterpiece though...)
