formerly know as Don Jon's Addiction. I'm glad Joey shortened the title as the former makes the film darker than it seems.
This movie would've been a home run had it not been for:
-The closing montage which felt out of place and cute. Seriously, cut out that last 4-5 minutes and the shit improves by ten fold.
-Brie Larson's Monica, Don's sister, served no purpose except to have one moment at the end as a plot device (one that wasn't really needed since Julianne Moore's character already spelt it out for Don).
-Some of the handheld work was not needed and especially one scene near the end between Moore and Gordon-Levitt that kinda diminished and distracted from the emotional catharsis of the scene.
Other that the cast absolutely kills it. And for the most part the direction is solid for Joey (you can tell this is his first film).
I thought the overall message of connecting with someone who gets you and opening up and stop being emotional cold was well done without beating you over the head with it (minus the ending montage).
Scarlett's Barbara reminds me of a lot bitches I know (and loathe).
