Yeah, it's goofy, and yeah, "but it's nothing like the book!" but who cares, I found it entertaining
Though there's a clear shift from the end of the second act to the new 3rd act stuff by Damon Lindelof and Drew Goddard, which, while enjoyable, kinda let the air out of the balloon so to speak... the pace of it is almost at complete odds with the haunted house movie tone of the first hour and fifteen minutes that preceded it and left us a conclusion that simply petered out... but left plenty of room for a sequel!
I imagine now that, since Paramount is starting discussions about a sequel (eat a dick, Hollywood, it didn't flop), that we may get more of the war elements that apparently were a big part of the book (I haven't read it yet)...
I had a good time.
