Yo... fuck the plot, the cinematography was ridiculous! it was like watching a crime drama version of children of men. and what are ya'll talking about the editing? the editing was sparse which gave the film its unique character.
also, soooo many things were NON-cliche and NON-formulaic about this flick that it trounces whatever minute flaws ya'll are nitpicking about. crazy visceral and realistic throughout...
-the opening scene?? DOPE AS FUCK. i was sitting there like how did they do this shit?!?
-first robbery sequence??? WTF? I didn't even expect that shit. it just sort of came out of nowhere. EXTREMELY DOPE.
-the car chase through the cemetery??? HOLY SHIT SON! that joint was amazing! no cuts, GOTDAMN
-when liotta pulls cooper over, you can just FEEL the tension. that POV shot where you can see like 1/3rd of his face... shit just worked on so many levels.
-then when cooper follows him in the forest, you're just thinking "WTF YOU DOING SON GET OUT OF THERE!" and 2 seconds later cooper peels out. again, very NON-formulaic.
yeah... the shit sort of waivers in the 3rd act but the acting and last couple of scenes more than make up for it.
