Nolan isn't on the level of someone like Scorsese or PTA or Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, a few contemporary directors who infuse a distinctive style in their films, push the technology of filmmaking to new levels and also create a very dramatic and engaging character study at the same time. There has to be an equal level of substance and style - more so of the former - to make those films that stay with you for a long time (i.e. City of God).
