42. "infinitely better than HBP" In response to In response to 0
while my dislike of HBP has softened, after rewatching last night i still have some major problems with it. DH, however, i enjoyed right from the get go. one of the biggest annoyances in past movies was more or less remedied in this one and that is the performances of the main trio. radcliffe has made major strides in the last 3 movies as well as grint, and they both did a nice job. the biggest problem, for me anyway, was always watson and her terrible overacting and facial expressions. in this one either she's improved quite a bit or yates was smart and didn't linger on her too long. either way, i enjoyed all their performances much more in this movie than any other previous effort.
another thing i noticed was the effects seemed to be much better this go around. sound same thing. i seem to remember many instances of silence throughout that highlighted the sense of doom and despair the trio had while looking for horcruxes. i thought they did a great job with locations and cinematography and it really added to the mood of the movie and story.
i, personally, have always found it easy to separate the book from film so i don't have any complaints about any omissions, but will say that even making this into 2 separate movies seems like not enough. jk rowling seriously crammed a lot of stuff into that last book!
